摘要 PURPOSE:To maintain stable airtightness for a long period of time and minimize coefficient of overall heat transmission by a method wherein spacers are provided between paralleled sheets made up of two sheets of sheet glass and fixed by welding and end parts of the paralleled sheets are closed by welding. CONSTITUTION:A middle spacer 3 and end spacers 4 for keeping a distance are provided between paralleled sheets made up of two sheets of sheet glass 1 and 2 and are fixed by welding, and a vacuum space 5 is formed by closing end parts of the paralleled sheets by welding. In manufacturing a vacuum thermal insulation sheet glass as mentioned above, the spacers 3 and 4 are welded by using glass in low melting point, and the end parts of the paralleled sheets are closed by welding by using fusing agent in low melting point while keeping non-welded parts at a low temperature. A port for inlet and outlet of gas for making the inside evacuated is sealed up by injecting fusing agent in low melting point communicated with areas that become vacuum while the manufacturing is in process.
