PURPOSE: To obtain an agent which contains a fibrinolytic enzyme and a surface active copolymer and is useful for treating sickle cell anemia. CONSTITUTION: This agent contains, as active ingredients, a mixture of a fibrinolytic enzyme and a surface active copolymer represented by the formula HO(C2 H4 O)b (C3 H6 O)a (C2 H4 O)b H wherein: (a) is such an integer that a hydrophobic part represented by the formula (C3 H6 O)a has an about 950 to 4,000 molecular weight; and (b) is such an integer that the total amount of hydrophilic parts represented by the formula (C2 H4 O)b is about 50 to 90 wt.% of the amount of the surface active copolymer. This mixture is effective in dissolving a clot, recovering the blood flow passing through an obstructed coronary artery or any other obstructed blood vessel and maintaining the recovered blood flow. By using a combination of the fibrinolytic enzyme and the surface active copolymer, the dissolution rate of a clot can be enhanced and any adverse reaction of the agent can be inhibited from occurring. |
