PURPOSE:To control the same printer engine by a common engine control mechanism by automatically switching the print sequence of the printer engine based on the judgement result for the specification type of a printer controller. CONSTITUTION:A printer control device is constituted of an optical control unit which performs the driving/stopping of a scanner motor, and the light quantity adjustment of a semiconductor laser 2 and a sensor input unit, etc., which transmits input information of a resist sensor 13 or paper delivery sensor 14, etc., to an engine control unit. A judgement means performs the transmission/ receiving of a command/status with a printer controller which is connected with a specified printer engine, and judges the specification type of the printer controller. Then, based on the judgement result, the print sequence of the printer engine or one part of the condition setting of the printer engine is switched and set by a control means. By this method, even when a printer controller with different specifications is connected, the printer engine can be controlled by one control mechanism. |
