PURPOSE: To provide a process for dyeing a textile material composed of naturally occurring or synthetic polyamide fibres, giving the level dyed textile material having a good fastness property without damaging the textile material by adding a specific surfactant to a dyeing bath, boiling the bath for a short time to dye the textile material, and then cooling the bath to a specific temperature range. CONSTITUTION: This process for dyeing a textile material composed of naturally occurring or synthetic polyamide fibres comprises introducing the textile material into an aqueous dye bath, which comprises an anionic dye, a surfactant, preferably a surfactant of formula I R is a 6-20C aliphatic group; U is a group of formula II, formula III, formula IV, formula V or the like [Z is a direct bond or (R1 -O)r ; (r) is 1-80; R1 is a 2-4C alkylene; W is H, a 1-4C alkyl not substituted or substituted by a substituent selected from carboxyl, hydroxyl, isocyanate or the like, carboxyl or the like, provided that when U contains a quaternary nitrogen atom, W is a sulfate ester or the like; (m) is 1-80] or a surfactant of formula VI [R is a 2-24C aliphatic group; R1 is a 2-4C alkylene; (k)+(k') is 4; (k) is 1, 2 or 3; (m) is 1-80], and optionally other dyeing assistants and acids, heating the dye bath to the boiling point, dyeing the textile material for 10 to 20 minutes at the boiling point, cooling the exhausted dye bath to from 50 deg.C to 90 deg.C, removing the dyed textile material from the dye bath, washing the dyed textile material with water, and subsequently finishing the dyed textile material. Thus, the textile material is uniformly dyed without being damaged.
