PURPOSE:To provide an ink residual amount detection mechanism having a simple structure, relatively low in cost and enabling the conservation of space in the ink storage device of an ink jet recording apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The spring 343 stretched over both end parts of an ink bag 340 applies the force curving the ink bag 340 in a downwardly protruding state but, when ink remains in the ink bag 340, the ink bag 340 is not curved by the acting force of the ink (a). When the ink in the ink bag 340 is almost exhausted, the ink bag 340 is curved by the force of the spring 343 (b). By observing this curved state through the transparent case of a cartridge 27, it can be confirmed that the ink does not almost remain in the ink bag. |
