Contact is made between strips 14 (e.g. between 14<SP>1</SP> and 1411) by insertion of a pin 5 into the corresponding slot 2 of an array. The pin 5 has four contact strips, diagonally connected in pairs, of which two only contact the leaf springs 11 when the pin is in position in slot 2 between rib 6 and the end 10 of groove 7. The two pairs of contact strips in pin 5 may be joined by an electrical component, such as a diode, or by conductive material. Pin 5 can be inserted into slot 2 in either of two positions, so that contact wear may be reduced by using both. The strips 14 may be connected externally to leads or bus-bars and pins 5 may be connected to circuit components or interconnected by leads. Leaf springs 11 bear on ri 6 when no pin 5 is present between those parts of them which overlap it, and are pretensioned against it. Optionally front board 3, and base-board 1, may be combined (Figs. 9 to 13, not shown) and the leaf spring contacts be inserted from below and retained by snap-fit ears which engage shoulders in the slots in which they are housed.
