The apparatus for separating and pre-filtering brightness and color signal in screen system comprises a frame and line filter for filtering color signal from the compound video signal, a line inter-related detector for comparing the present line with pre-line and post-line, a motion detector for determining the motion amount and outputting it, a signal processor for processing the outputs of two filters and two detectors, a first filter for filtering the total color signal from the output of the processor, a second filter for filtering the output of the first filter, and a subtractor for outputting the brightness signal by subtracting the output of the second filter from the delayed brightness signal. Thus this invention prevents degrading the picture even though the motion exists and line inter-relation is plentiful.
