PURPOSE:To obtain a high reformation rate with a simple construction by reforming a raw fuel kept in non-reformed condition in a reformer with the steam included in fuel pole outlet gas and sensible heat included in the fuel pole outlet gas. CONSTITUTION:A reformer 5 is formed in such a simple construction that a reforming catalyzer 7 is filled in a cylindrical case 6, a gas inlet 8 is provided on one end side of the case 6 and a gas outlet is provided on its other end side. Reforming reaction in the reformer 5 leads a fuel pole outlet gas discharged from a fuel pole 4 to the filling part of the reforming catalyzer 7 in the case 6 so as to reform a non-reformed raw fuel (residual methane) which is included in the gas remaining in its non-reformed condition by a reformer 1 on the upper stream side and enters the fuel pole 4 of a fuel cell I and discharged from the fuel pole 4. The residual methane included in the fuel pole outlet gas is reformed by using only steam produced by a cell reaction in the fuel pole 4 and sensible heat included in the fuel pole outlet gas while making the ethane contact wit the catalyzer 7. |
