PURPOSE:To apply an encoding system using fine processing to an image date base without permitting image deformation by encoding an original image by utilizing a fine image. CONSTITUTION:The fine processing is applied to the input image signal (x) of a fine processing circuit 1, and the signal is converted to a fine image signal xT with line width of nearly one pixel. A fine image encoder 2 performs the encoding of the fine image signal x by predictive encoding indicated in a literature, and outputs a compression code CT, and adds it to a multiplexer 4. An original image encoder 3 performs the encoding of the original image by estimating an original image itself by using the five image signal xT, and performing the encoding of an estimation error, or selecting a predictor adaptively based on such estimation, or selecting adaptively a code for relative displacement with a preceding line, etc. The multiplexer 4 selects the compression codes CT, Co alternately, and outputs them as compression code C, and transmits it to a transmission line 6. |
