The connector is made in two parts (1,2), one of which fits into the other. Each comprises an electrically conducting casing (10,6) which surrounds the contacts (8,14) and is shaped one to fit inside the other. The two casings also interconnect electrically to maintain continuity of earthing. Each casing is made of a single piece moulded in plastic material and plated with metal. The case of the female part is lipped (15) in order to ensure a tight fit when inserted into the male part. The connector includes a further two electrical conductor shielding covers, each of which is connected to the rear of one of the two connector parts (1,2). ADVANTAGE - Results in simpler fabrication at lower cost and weight than current connector made of metal and avoids need for additional units to ensure continuity of earthing.
