Pigment compsns. for colouring road paving materials comprise 5-95 wt.% of at least one finely divided inorganic or organic pigment dispersed in 5-95 wt.% of an oil compatible with the binder in the paving material to be coloured. Also claimed is a prcess for producing a coloured road paving material by mixing aggregates, fines, binder and pigment at a temp. above the m.pt. of the binder but below the flash point of organic components, where the pigment is mixed with the other materials in the form of a compsn. as above. ADVANTAGE - In contrast to powdered pigments, the compsns. are easier to mix, provide more reproducible colours from batch to batch, and avoid dusting problems. In an example a blue pigment compsn. comprises (by wt.): 46.4% TCO2, 7.2% phthalobyanine blue and 46.4% 'Flexon' 876 (RTM: paraffinic oil).
