The electric power line breaker has an isolating switch and contact breaker (100) with a control mechanism (150) which has an accumulator, with control over the equilibrium of the contact breaker. A lever (195) of electrically conducting material has a pivotally controlled mechanism and works with a contact (54) to allow current to flow through the isolating switch. The lever and the contact are in a housing and allow a connection between the lever and the contact and when those are separated the current can no longer flow. The chassis is formed of two telescopic elements which can move horizontally and can be fixed in different positions. One of the elements is connected to the insulating switch and the other is connected to an insulator and a fixed contact of the contact breaker. An opening and closing arm can be on either side of the apparatus and consists of a plate of electrically conducting material in the form of 'V'.
