PURPOSE: To obtain an optical heterodyne detector and a mirror system which is used for it. CONSTITUTION: An optical heterodyne or homodyne receiver uses an optical system 140, and a local oscillation beam is put together with a signal beam. At the same time, those beams are split into orthogonally polarized partial beams. For the purpose, this optical system 140 has polarized light sensing beam splitter layers 141a and 141b and neutral beam splitter layers 142a and 149b which operate as a beam combiner. To match the directions of the partial beams of the signal beam and local oscillation beam with each other, the angles (α, β, γ, and δ) that the beam splitters contain are so selected that the sum of mutually opposite two angles becomes 180 deg.. This is actualized by providing layers 141a and 142b, and 141b and 142a on the flanks of the prisms 140a and 140b. |
