PURPOSE:To provide an image processor for efficiently compressing a moving image without lacking important information and reproducing compressed moving image information. CONSTITUTION:A compression method selection executing part 5 judges the charateristics of a moving image in order to compress moving image information inputted from an image information source 1 and selects a compression method appropriate for the characteristics. The judgement of characteristics and the selection of a compression method are executed at every change in the characteristics of an image. The moving image information is compressed by the selected method and inputted to an information transmitting part 8. The transmitting part 8 transmits the moving image information to a reception side processor 4 through an information transfer device 3. In the reception side, an extension method selection executing part 10 tests the received moving image information and judges the applied compression method. After judging the compression method, an information extending method for returning the compressed information to the original information is selected and executed. The moving image information returned to the original format is inputted to a moving image reproducing part 12 and reproduced as a moving image. |
