PURPOSE:To provide a disk drive motor of simple structure having a shaft, an armature, a rotor and permanent magnets, in which pre-load is reliably applied to a pair of bearings by placing a spacer between their outer races. CONSTITUTION:This motor has a shaft member 56 protruding from a mounting frame 51 and an armature 57 located concentrically with the shaft member 56. It also has a cup-shaped rotor 65 which is supported rotatably and open- sidedly at a free end of the shaft member 56 through a pair of bearings 63, 64 and which has a cylindrical side wall 65b surrounding an outer surface of the armature 57 and a disc holding section 67 which holds a disc. And, on an inner face of the cylindrical side wall 65b, a fixed permanent magnet 68 is installed. The bearings 63, 64 include their respective outer races 63b and 64b, between which a spacer 66 is placed. Due to the spacer 66, a force in the separating direction works on the outer rings 63b, 64b of the bearings 63b, 64b. Therefore, pre-load is applied and a rigidity is increased. |
