PURPOSE: To prevent application of a compressive force upon a rim of a disk when bound between holders or flanges by forming an integral rupture portion within a disk connected to a rim and also by attaching a reinforcing ring to the rim. CONSTITUTION: This assembly 10 comprises a rupture disk element 20 including a carbon disk 22 having opposed faces 24, 26 and a rim 28. An integral rupture portion 34 having a specified rupture pressure because of a pair of blind bores 30, 32 is formed in the disk 22. The element 20 includes a reinforcing ring 38 attached to the rim 28. The reinforcing ring 38 has a height nearly equal to or larger than the height of the rim 36 of the carbon disk 22. Therefore, the compressive force caused by binding the element 20 between holders or flanges is transmitted rather to the reinforcing ring 38 than to the rim 36 of the disk 22. The ring 38 resists the compressive force. |
