摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To remove such a toxic substance as the dioxin, etc., from the exhaust gas of a closed arc furnace by sucking out the toxic substance in the area between the upper and lower vessels of the furnace by bringing gases, dust, vapors in the furnace vessel into contact with molten metal by making the gases, dust, and vapors to flow through a ore and flux mixture in the furnace in the direction opposite to that of a thermal flow. CONSTITUTION: In the furnace vessel 10 of an arc furnace, an ore and flux mixture column 13 is put on slag 12 floating on a molten metal 11. The upper section 20 of the vessel 210 has a cooling jacket 21 and the opening of the section 20 is closed with a cap 22. During a melting process, gases, dust, and vapors in the vessel 10 are made to flow through the column 13 in the direction opposite to the natural flowing direction and, thereafter, brought into contact with the molten metal 11 and slag 12. Therefore, the dioxin, etc., in the waste gas from the furnace is decomposed by the molten metal 11 and the exhaust gas is discharged through a filter 44.</p>
