PRODUCTION OF COLOR FILTER

PURPOSE:To simply easily produce a color filter having excellent spectral characteristic and durability without need to form a decontaminating resin film. CONSTITUTION:A pigment, in which the content of the grains having >=1mum diameter is controlled to <=10wt.% and the content of the grains having 0.01-0.7mum diameter to >=30wt.%, is dispersed in a photosensitive resin. The light transmittance of the resin in the patterned coating film is controlled to <=20% in the light absorbing region in the spectral characteristic curve in the visible region, and the light transmittance in the light transmitting region is controlled to >=50%. The coating film is exposed through a mask pattern and developed to form a patterned transparent color picture on a substrate. A decontaminating film need not be formed at least immediately before the picture is formed.
