The nitrogen vapor product 109 from the column 106 cools the air 101 while the product 109 flows through the heat exchanger 103 and is compressed While the product 109 flows through a compressor 110. The nitrogen-containing waste fluid flow 112 from the condenser 108 is expanded through an expander 113. The expander 113 is directly connected to the compressor 110 by means of a connecting means 125 and efficiently makes compression. The expanded waste-fluid 114 provides the cryogenic rectification facility with an additional refrigerating ability by cooling the air 101 while the fluid 114 flows through the heat exchanger 103. It is also possible to supply the supplied air 101 to the expander 113 first.
