PURPOSE:To improve the throughput of document processing and to shorten printing time by calculating document density from document information to be printed and maintaining the function of a printing head at certain timing and times corresponding to this document density. CONSTITUTION:The document density per page is calculated by dividing it with the total number of pages counted for page printing or the like, and the number of times and the timing required for maintaining the function of the printing head during document printing are decided from this document density. Therefore table information is stored in a memory to show the number of times and the timing for maintaining the function of the head corresponding to the value of the document density and by referring to this table information, a CPU 1 decides the number of times and the timing for maintaining the function of the head concerning the document to be actually printed. Afterwards, the CPU 1 prints one page, judges whether the current time point is corresponding to the decided timing for maintaining the function or not, confirms that the number of times of execution is less than the decided number of times, maintains the function of the printing head, and updates the number of times for maintaining the function. |
