PURPOSE: To increase the density of a bit and a track by means of the decrease of a near field operation of a spot size and also to enable rewriting (direct overwriting) by means of magnetic field modulation on a (simple) magneto- optical thin film to generate current by adopting near field optical technique in floating quantity (height) under an operation and unnecessitating the usage of flux servo mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A magneto-optical head 70 is formed on a glass slider 71 and permitted to be placed on a magneto-optical disk inside a diskdriver so as to be in an adjacent floating state. A transducer is formed at one end of the glass slider. Planar-type or channel-type wave guide which is formed by ion exchange in the end surface of the glass slider 71 couples light from a light source such as a laser diode, etc., to a disk so as to execute reading and writing. |
