PURPOSE:To enable an abnormality detecting device to inexpensively and easily defect abnormal cutting by performing observations and diagnoses. CONSTITUTION:When an operator commands, a data converting means 1 first collects acoustic waves produced when a work 20b is worked with a tool 20a from a microphone 1a. Then the means 1 stores the collected acoustic waves in a first storing means 4 as reference data 4a and, at the same time, converts the volume and frequency of the acoustic waves into digital data. In a second storing means 2, digital reference data 2a indicating the volume and frequency of acoustic waves produced during normal working and converted by the means 1 and digital inspection data 2b indicating the volume and frequency of acoustic waves produced during actual working and similarly converted by the means 1 are stored. A comparison detecting means 3 detects abnormal cutting by comparing the inspection data 2b with the reference data 2a stored in the second storing means 2. |
