PURPOSE:To enhance energy density and improve electrode strength and heat resistance by holding a sufficient quantity of electrolyte in a paste type cadmium negative electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:As an active material, to 100 pts. by wt. of cadmium oxide, 2 pts. by wt. of polyvinyl alcohol (binder), 20 pts. by wt. of ethylene glycol, and 3 pts. by wt. of ceramic staple (e.g. ZtO1, Al2O3, K2O.6TiO2) are mixed, and kneaded to prepare a pasted active material. This is applied to a nickel- plated punched metal base followed by drying and molding to form a paste type cadmium negative electrode plate. Since this negative electrode plate has good electrolyte holding property, a sealed nickel cadmium storage battery using this can keep a high active material utilizing rate for a long period as shown in the drawing. |
