PURPOSE:To enhance controllability of an image forming device by automati cally selecting a book copy mode when a double-sided document of a book, noteboock or the like is subjected to an image-forming process, and automati cally selecting recording paper of a size corresponding to the document. CONSTITUTION:An image forming device has a document pattern read means (sensor portion 407) for reading the pattern of a document face, a document size detection means (sensor portion 407) for detecting the size of the document, and a CPU 401 which, when the document size detection means is placed lengthwise along the direction of scanning and the read output of the document pattern read means does not indicate detection of a pattern of a predetermined interval at the center of the document, automatically sets a book copy mode in which the right and left pages are subjected to an image-forming process in sequence. |
