PURPOSE:To make thin a printer by fixing an oscillation rail only at the opposite ends thereof thereby forming a print paper carrying path immediately thereunder, and to drive a carriage smoothly by setting the resonance frequency of oscillation rail body different from the driving frequency of oscillation wave actuator. CONSTITUTION:Bases 8c, 9a are disposed only at the opposite ends of an oscillation rail 8 and at the opposite ends of a carriage guide rail 9. The oscillation rail 8 is supported on a bottom plate 10c through the bases 8c whereas the carriage guide rail 9 is supported on the bottom plate 10c through the bases 9a. The oscillation rail 8 and the carriage guide rail 9 are constructed to straddle the traveling path of print paper 16 in order to reduce the thickness of printer. Furthermore, resonance frequency of the body part 8b of the oscillation rail 8 is set different from the driving frequency of an actuator 1 so that a carriage 4 can be driven smoothly even if the body part 8b of the oscillation rail 8 has low stiffness. |
