The rim 30 of a vehicle wheel has tapered bead seating rings 8, 8<SP>1</SP> and side rings 5 mounted thereon in such a way that annular cavities 13 are formed between the bead seating rings and the rim. The cavities have access to tyre inflation air and act as barriers to transfer of heat from the rim to the beads. The side rings may be integral with the bead seating rings, see Fig. 4 (not shown). The rim may be provided with an abutment 19 for one of the bead seating rings, and air seals 12<SP>1</SP> may be provided in the cavities. |
