The masking paint has a low emittance in the thermic IR range and at the same time a high transmittance in the radar range in that it contains a binder medium in which is mixed a dielectric pigment, which has a refraction index n which is greater than the binding medium refraction index, a low extinction coefficient K and a dim. of the pigment particle radii which is a fraction of the wavelength for which the masking paint is intended to be effective, i.e. a dim. of 0.5 micrometres for the wavelength range 3-5 micrometres and a dia. of 1 micrometre for the wavelength range 8-12 micrometres. The dielectric pigment has a refraction index n of more than 2.5 and an extinction coefficient k of less than 0.5 10-3. It comprises silicon, germanium, is selected from a group comprising cadmium telluride, gallium arsenide and gallium phosphide, is selected from a group comprising polyethene and polytetrafluoroethylene, or from a group comprising polyester and polyurethane. |
