A facing head comprises a spindle (2) which can rotate about a main axis (V) and a plurality of abrasive tools (3) which can rotate about secondary shafts having axes (I). Each tool (3) is formed by a support (5) which has a central portion (7) for coupling to a secondary tool supporting shaft and a peripheral portion (8) for the anchoring of constant-thickness abrasive means (6) to the support (5), which is substantially conical with a taper angle of less than 90 and preferably close to 45 , with the apex (O) directed toward the periphery of the spindle (2). The average tangential speed of the tool is substantially constant, as the positive gradient of the spindle axis is compensated by the negative gradient in the same direction with respect to the axis of the tool and allows uniform facing of the material being treated, a better finish of the treated surfaces, and less tool wear. |
