The invention concerns the manufacture of pastes of salts of (alpha)-sulphonic fatty acids, with a fatty-acid content to 35 of 50 % by wt., by reacting with a sulphonating agent mixtures of (a) fatty acids of the formula (I): R1COOH, in which the R1CO unit is an acyl group with 6 to 22 carbon atoms and has an iodine number of 0 to 0.5, and (b) triglycerides of the formula (II), in which the R2CO, R3CO and R4CO units, independently of each other, are saturated acyl groups with 6 to 22 carbon atoms and also have an iodine of 0 to 0.5, and subsequently neutralizing with concentrated aqueous bases. |
