Device for the excitation of vibrations in a frame in a predeterminable direction with a motor drive and a degree of imbalance which is adjustable during operation, whereby the unbalanced masses are divided into partial unbalanced bodies. Special steps concerning the drive of the partial unbalanced bodies can reduce shock loads on the drive components caused by reactive torque and hence noise emissions arising therefrom. For use in ram vibrators and vibration benches, e.g. for moulding machines.
