A pref. filament lamp (2) is supplied with current from a bridge rectifier (6) of the AC output from the generator (1) while a capacitor (4) of about 1 F is charged. An LED (3) with an 18 mA current-limiting resistor (8) in series is switched on by the FET (9) when the generator is unable to provide sufficient current. The cut-off of the FET on restarting of the generator is accelerated by a 470 nF capacitor (11) and 1 megohm resistor (12) in parallel between its source (S) and gate electrode (G). USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for bicycle rear lighting, safety is enhanced with optimal use of generator backed-up by capacitor current during periods at standstill.
