A process for producing a D-amino acid and an N-(substituted carbonyl)-L-amino acid by microbially hydrolyzing an N-(substituted carbonyl)-DL-amino acid through optical resolution, which comprises conducting the resolution by treating an N-(substituted carbonyl)-DL-amino acid represented by general formula [1] and/or a salt thereof with a cultured cell of a bacterium selected from among those of the genera Rhodococcus and Pimelobacter and/or a product of treatment thereof, wherein R represents hydrogen or optionally halogenated C1-C10 alkyl or phenyl; and R1 represents optionally halogenated C¿1?-C10 alkanoyl or benzoyl.
|
