Freighter with cargo containers - with large mobile containers, which completely fill hatch-ways and project above weather deck

The freighter is for vertical cargo handling. It has cargo holds for containers. The cargo holds (2) are each formed, so that they contain and support a mobile large-size container (3), which completely fills the hatchway in the deck. The cargo holds are protected against seawater penetration by the containers. The freighter (1) may be converted partially or completely, into a bulk carrier without hatchway covers (7). Containers are placed in the hold, and project over the weather deck (18). The sides of the containers above the deck are closed. The containers rest on bottom (13) or a deck above it, and have hatchway covers. USE/ADVANTAGE - Quicker loading/unloading of ship. The system can be used for container transportation, or for bulk and liquid cargoes.
