1,036,312. Heating and cooling systems, &c. H. LUEDER. March 22, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 11557/63. Heading F4U. [Also in Division E1] In a room or space provided with at least one window, those parts of the walls, floor and ceiling of the room or space which are in a position to receive radiant energy entering the window are of such material that they have a large heat storing capacity and good thermal conductivity and are connected in good heat conducting relationship to each other. Means are provided for thermally insulating all of said parts from the exterior of the room or space and the window comprises inner and outer spaced, transparent rigid panes and a plurality of spaced transparent plastic foils in the space between said panes. The room may be provided with an outer casing of aluminium which is thermally insulated from the heat storing interior structure and the heat storage effect may be supplemented by electrical heaters or fluid carrying pipes embedded in the floor of the room. The pipes may also be used for cooling the room and may form part of a reversible-cycle heat pump system. The foils making up the compound window are formed of a polyester resin reinforced with glass fibre, the spaces between the foils may be filled with dry carbon dioxide gas and the foils may be coated with a quarter-wave layer to reduce reflection. |
