To process and clean matter separated by gravity, esp. from sludge/sand traps and/or benzine separation, the oil/benzine phase is drawn by suction into an underpressure vessel, and any carried water particles are separated from it. The removed water is cleaned and returned to the process water circuit, or to the separator or released into the water system. Process water is fed to the sludge/sand trap and at the mobile assembly to clean it. The suspension is drawn by suction into a reaction drum for treatment with or without a chemical agent. The coarse solids are sepd. and the fine solids are sepd. by a pressure filtration. The filtrate water is continuously monitored and analysed, and the filtrate water is returned to the separator or released. The cleaned sand is retained for further use and/or dumped. The stages are simultaneous, separated or effected at time intervals. Also claimed is a mobile assembly with a collection vessel (4) under pressure, a water tank (20) with a high pressure pump (21) and a reaction drum (4) with rotating paddles. A suction channel has a fine sieve rotating at the outlet pump exit, a stirrer (7) and a following chamber filter press (15).
