Each contact (31, 32) for a shielded connector (10) is made from a blank (fig 3) in which a terminal (37) is joined to the midpoint of a pair of contact sections (33a),(33b) and extends parallel to the contact sections, thereby reducing waste during manufacture. The terminal sections are twisted and the terminals bent into a configuration for fitting to the connector body. A shield (40) may contact the contacts. Opposed twists in contacts (31, 32) unable all contact sections (33a, b, c, d) within compartments (21, 22) of the connector to lie in one plane.
