The processing unit (1) includes an asynchronous operating unit. Two input buses and an output bus make connections to the exterior. Two input registers are connected to the input buses via other two buses. The output from the operating unit is transmitted to an output register via a bus. Each element of the register includes a pair of flip-flops (2,12) mounted in parallel between input and output. Each flip-flop includes a memory cell (3,13), a memory writing circuit (4,14) and a memory reading circuit (5,15). Inverters (6,16,7,17) are connected to each memory cell.
