<p>A pipette assembly (10) for automatic pipetting machines including a pipette tip (12), and a pipette tip holder (14) having a mandrel portion (24) and a seal portion (26). The mandrel (24) includes a plug portion (30) which is adapted to engage a top end portion (18) of the pipette tip, and a cylindrical seat portion (34) proximate its bottom end. The seal is a unitary, resilient member having a cylindrical base portion (56), an upwardly flaring skirt portion (58), and an opening receptive to the seat portion of the mandrel. An inner surface of the base portion of the seal is provided with a pair of sealing ribs (60,62), one of which (60) serves as a pivot for the skirt portion.</p> |
