PURPOSE:To obtain a diacetal compound useful as an organic gelatinizing agent, a nucleating agent, resin improver, etc., by subjecting a lower alkyl ester diacetal and an alcohol to transesterification. CONSTITUTION:A 1-4C lower alkyl ester diacetal compound and a monohydric or dihydric alcohol are subjected to transesterification in the presence of a base (e.g. sodium methylate) in a solvent (e.g. DMSO) at 0-200 deg.C. Or the 1-4C lower alkyl ester diacetal compound and a monofunctional or difunctional amine are subjected to ester amide exchange in the presence of a base to give a compound of the formula [A and B are H, halogen, alkoxy, (Alk)t-group (Alk is lower alkyl; (t) is 1-3), COOR<1>-group, COOR<2>-group (R<1> and R<2> are alkyl, alkenyl, etc.), etc.]. The compounds are useful as an antistatic agent, anti-fogging agent and stainproofing agent for thermoplastic resins, a resin improver such as one component for polymer alloy, an nucleating agent for crystalline resins, etc. This production method is excellent in general purpose. |
