BACILLUS POLYMYXA KWI-7 STRAIN HAVING BACTERIOLYZING CAPABILITY OF FILAMENTOUS MICROORGANISM

PURPOSE:To prevent filamentous microorganisms from bulking effectively without any adverse effect on useful microorganisms for activating sludge and the environments by using a specific strain capable of bacteriolyzing filamentous microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:When the culture mixture of Bacillus polymyxa KWI-7 strain (FERM-P-12925) capable of bacteriolyzing filamentous microorganisms is mixed with activated sludge, the filamentous bulking can be effectively prevented. This microorganism can be screened by heating the source for separation such as activated sludge or soil at 80 deg.C for 20 minutes, culturing it in the selection medium containing filamentous microorganisms and collecting the microorganism forming bacteriolyzed plane around the colonies. The microorganism is preferably aerobically cultured at pH7 and at temperature 30 deg.C.
