PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous expansion of an air bag in telescoping operation by making it possible to operate a lock release means when an air bag expansion power is off or when a specified time is collapsed after off, and also providing a control means to permit the operation of a steering position adjusting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 29 of a controller 24 always monitors the output state of a power circuit 32, and judges whether the output state is ON (voltage at which air bag can be expanded) or OFF (voltage at which air bag cannot be expanded). When it is ON, a solenoid 22 is operated onto a lock release lever operation, prohibited side to prohibit telescoping operation. When it is OFF, the solenoid 22 is operated onto a lock release lever operation permitted side to permit telescoping operation. As a result, when the telescoping operation of the steering is made rapidly, a collision detector sensor detects a collision to prevent erroneous expansion of an air bag. |
