PURPOSE: To obtain an oral preparation form of low dosage containing a cationic porous ion exchange resin and improved in the gastric tolerance of an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition comprises (A) a methane disphosphonic acid derivative of the formula [one of R1 , R2 is H, OH, and the other is an amino-(1-4)C alkyl, a 2-6C alkyleneamino-(1-4)C alkyl, an N-mono- or N,N-di(1-8)C alkylamino-(2-4)C alkyl, a 5-7C cycloalkylamino, a heteroaryl-(1-4) C alkyl, an N-(1-4)C alkyl-N-phenylthio-(1-4)C alkylamino-(1-4)C alkyl] or its salt, e.g. 3-amino-1-hydroxypropane-1,1-diphosphonic acid, (B) a cationic porous ion exchange resin comprising a styrene/divinylbenzene compolymer having exchangeable aminophosphonic acid groups as a base material, and, if suitable, (C) an additional pharmaceutically cacceptable vehicle. The components A and B are contained in an A:B ratio of 1:1 to 1:100, especially 1:1 to 1:10.
