This invention relates to compounds useful in treating HT4 and/or HT3, mediated conditions of formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkoxy, halogen, amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, acylamino and alkylsulfonylamino; R3 is selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl and cycloalkyl; X is NH or O; Z is selected from the group consisting of (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), (h) and n and r are independently 1 or 2; p is 0 or 1; q is 0 or 1; pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds and a method for treating serotonin mediated condition with the compositions which act as 5-HT4, agonists or antagonists and/or 5-HT3 antagonists.
