PURPOSE: To provide a tripping device for a vehicle safety device which triggers only in an actual traffic trouble, without malfunctioning. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises an acceleration sensor 10 providing an acceleration signal in response to an instantaneous acceleration, means for starting processing, e.g. an integrator 14 as soon as a first signal obtained from the acceleration, e.g. an acceleration signal a reaches a start threshold value a1 , and means for triggering a safety device 22 as soon as a second signal obtained from the acceleration, e.g. an output signal v of the integrator 14 exceeds a threshold value v1 within a predetermined trigger time interval, the entire process operation is started with a testing time interval tc followed by a triggering time interval, and means are provided causing interruption of the testing operation as soon as a third signal obtained from the acceleration, e.g. an integrator output signal v-v1 over the threshold value exceeds a predetermined threshold value. |
