Bits A1-A32, B1-B32 of two binary numbers A, B are connected as shown to transistors T1a-T32a, T1b-T32b, a transistor on the A side only conducting if the associated A bit is greater than the corresponding B bit, and a transistor on the B side only conducting if the associated B bit is greater than the corresponding A bit. Thus if A32 = 1, B32 = 0, T32a conducts and supplies a "1" output at OA32. Diodes 44 conduct this "1" output to A>B terminal 70 and also to output terminals OA2-OA16. The highest terminal OA having a " 1 " indicates the degree of disparity between numbers A, B. Diodes 42 ensure that none of the lower order transistors on the B side can produce a " 1 " output, by applying a " 1 " to their bases. The B side is similar. A common #A=B terminal 68 is energized via diode 54 or 56 if A>B or B>A.</p> |
