[Also in Division B8] An internal partition for a box comprises a slotted U-shaped member 3 and a slotted longitudinal partition member 9. The bottom of the U fills the gap between closure flaps of the box. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the bottom of the U has a diagonal fold line 13 so that the partition may be collapsed for transport &c, In an apparatus, Figs. 9-11 (not shown), for assembling the fittings, blanks are fed one at a time from the bottom of a pile 4 to a folding device 5a of known type which folds it to U- shape, the partition 3 then being withdrawn by rollers 6 until it contacts stop flaps 8, whereat electrical switch means stops the drive while a longitudinal partition 9 is inserted from above either manually or mechanically. Several members 3 and 9 may be assembled simultaneously. In a modification, after bending the member 3 is tilted through 90 degrees so that the member 9 may be presented to it in a horizontal plane and from the bottom of a stack of blanks. |
