PURPOSE:To obtain a method for thermal transfer recording which enables characters and images of high print quality to be recorded with high writing effect and fixing properties, regardless of the type of an image receiving medium, in a method for recording data by thermally transferring dye. CONSTITUTION:Ink sheets 7 are stacked on an intermediate transfer medium 4 having a polymer layer 2, then dye is thermally transferred to a recording layer 3 from an ink material layer 6, and the intermediate transfer medium 4 is stacked on the image receiving medium 12. After that, these media are thermally pressed to transfer the recording layer 3 to the surface of the image receiving medium 12. The polymer layer 2 consisting of a rubber-elastic and viscous polymer material holds the recording layer 3 stably when the dye is transferred to the recording layer 3. In addition, the recording layer 3 is firmly fixed by elastic deformation of the layer 3 along the surface profile of the image receiving medium 12, when the recording layer 3 is transferred to the image receiving medium 12. |
