Device and method for placing at least two adjacent, elongate pieces of extruded dough, which are located on a base surface and lie at least virtually on a longitudinal axis, next to one another. The device and method make use of lifting members which lift the pieces of extruded dough off the base surface, after which the lifting members, together with the pieces of extruded dough in question, are moved to a defined distance apart, and finally the pieces of extruded dough are placed back on the base surface. The lifting members preferably employ a variation in the air pressure in order to lift the pieces of extruded dough and put them back down.
