<p>PURPOSE:To calculate an overflow value and to inhibit data writing in an unexpected area of a recording medium by finding out an overflowed code volume based upon an address counter value read out after ending compression record. CONSTITUTION:When an output address from an address counter 8 exceeds a reference value outputted from a latch 9, a comparator 10 outputs an overflow signal to a write inhibiting gate 11. The gate 11 receives a write signal from a compression coding circuit 1 and the overflow signal, and when either one of the two inputs is 'H', sends the signal to a recording medium 3 without recording it. A system controller 2 sends an address reading signal in response to an end signal outputted from the circuit 1 to a try state buffer 12 and an address obtained from the address counter 8 at that time is supplied to the controller 2. Thereby, the controller 2 calculates code volume over from an objective code volume by a difference between an address value obtained at the time of overflow generation and an address value obtained at the time of ending compression code processing.</p> |
