PURPOSE:To improve the safety and durability of a television device by supplying power to a satellite broadcasting radio wave converter only at the time of displaying a video based upon a video signal demodulated by the converter. CONSTITUTION:A signal processor 12 constituted of a CPU as a main constitutional element discriminates whether a CRT 6 displays the video based upon a video signal outputted from the satellite broadcasting radio wave converter or not based upon an operation signal inputted from an operation part 13 or a remote control signal receiving part 14. When the video is not displayed, the processor 12 disconnects a BS power supply switch 19 to stop driving power supply from a main power supply part 18 to a BS tuner 3 and turns the converter to an inactive state. Thus, the heating of the converter can be suppressed to its minimum limit, a constitutional circuit board or the like can be protected and the safety and the durability of the television device is improved.
